with a Mosquito Lagoon Redfish
 |
Hello! I'm Capt. Troy D. Nash and I'd like to welcome you to my website, BigRedGuideService.com !
Orlando area Fishing Guide for Light Tackle Flats fishing and Saltwater Fly fishing Charters on Central Florida's east coast Indian River Lagoon and Mosquito Lagoon Fishing for Giant Redfish, Spotted Sea Trout, Snook and Tarpon.
Cocoa Beach Fishing near Orlando on Central Florida's Indian River Lagoon, Banana River and Mosquito Lagoon located in Brevard County is known for it's Flats fishing for Big Bull Redfish and Gator Sea Trout and has been named "Redfish Capitol of the World" Check it out on the Fishing Videos page!
Our fishing for Redfish and Spotted Sea Trout here on Florida's East Coast is year around.
Inshore, during late Spring, Jack Crevalle and Ladyfish begin crashing Mullet and Glass Minnow pods up and down the lush grass Flats of the Mosquito Lagoon and canals of the Indian River Lagoon and Banana River making for spectacular inshore sport fishing.
Signifying the approach of Summer, Snook begin to arrive and can be found busting bait early in the morning near Mangroves, in canals, around docks and nearby inlets of the Indian River Lagoon Mosquito Lagoon and Banana River.
Beginning in Spring, through the Summer and into the Fall season, Tarpon can be found Offshore running the Beach off Cape Canaveral as well as inshore, rolling in the residential canals of Cocoa Beach and Merritt Island in the Indian and Banana Rivers and at times, in the deeper water flats of the North Indian River Lagoon and Mosquito Lagoon area.
When winter approaches, Sheepshead, Black Drum and Grouper can be found on the edge of Flats near the deeper waters of the Indian River Lagoon, as well as everyone's local favorite, Pompano which show up in the surf of the nearby beaches and along the Lagoons channel system.
Offshore, in early Spring , when water temperatures rise above 68 degrees, many varieties of offshore Sportfishing species begin to show up. Such as Cobia, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Mahi Mahi and Tripletail which are pelagic fish and roam the temprate waters of the Atlantic ocean just offshore of Cape Canaverel and Cocoa Beach. These species are usually fished from an offshore Sport fishing Charter boat or Bay Boat. I have both!
Our inshore fishing is done primarily from the bow of a "Flats boat" in shallow water while your Guide poles you across lush grass flats and along drop-offs teaming with bait and predatory game fish.
"Sight casting" and stalking "Tailing" Redfish in the Flats where you see their gills flare when they eat is my specialty, but casting to Spotted Sea trout lounging in potholes on the grass flats or Jumping Tarpon on fly in the residential canals of Cocoa Beach can be just as exciting!
I'm a third generation fishing Guide who grew up in the Charter fishing business, working with my father on our family owned 65ft Charter Boat.
I guide FULL time, out of an 18' Hewes light tackle skiff Flats boat and have been a U.S.C.G. Licensed Captain (100 ton Master) for 18 years and in this business for 28 years. So, I can assure you,...I'll show you a great time while you enjoy this fantastic fishery!
You can catch me on the Outdoor Life Networks "Addictive Fishing" show with Host Capt. Blair Wiggins. In fact, I did the first show that was ever produced and have done a total of four shows and a D.O.A. Lures commercial too. Check it out on the Fishing Videos page!
I've also had the opportunity to guide at such spectacular locations as "Southern Cross Club" in the Cayman Islands, B.W.I. for Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon in 1992, and worked at the "Barrimundi fish Camp" in Australia's northern territory, for Barrimundi, Australia's Snook back in 1987.
Whether it's fishing for Sea Trout on the grass beds of the Indian River, jumping Tarpon and Snook in the canals of the Lagoons on Fly during Summer, or stalking Redfish on the flats of Mosquito Lagoon year around, I've got you covered.
So,...GRAB YOUR GEAR and LET'S GO FISHING!
